Having played in the Cannon Valley League from the late 60's to the 80's and then co-managed the Hastings Hawks 96-2003 I find the recent article on the Hastings Hawks well written and accurate. I still remember playing against the Hastings Spirals (named after the old Spiral Bridge) in the 70's at the ballfields where the Chevy dealership now stands. Politicians later found the money to purchase land up by the VA Home and softball/baseball fields put in. Thus, with a name change to Hastings Hawks Vets field became their home. I'd encourage fans to continue their support and volunteer to take on some of the maintenance chores. I was shocked at what it cost to run a town team, they need your support!
