2nd Grade Teacher at Kennedy

In the Hastings School District, we are extremely fortunate to be blessed with teachers and staff who dedicate their careers to public education.

Nicole Hering, a 2nd grade teacher at Kennedy Elementary, is one of our many professional educators. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Moorhead and went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in River Falls.

In addition to obtaining her advanced degrees to grow her skills and knowledge to assist in her teaching work, she has 22 years of classroom experience under her belt!

Being a teacher is he perfect career for someone like Ms. Hering, who said she got into teaching because she loves learning and working with kids. You can also tell that she is engaged in her career.

“Growing up, I had great teacher role models who encouraged my love of learning,” Hering said. “Now it’s the kids who keep me my curiosity alive!”

Hering said she emphasizes to parents how important it is to nurture their kids on life skills outside of school, in addition to focusing on academics.

“Encouraging kindness, respect and curiosity is the most important thing we can give kids,” she said.

When Nicole is not helping our second graders learn and grow, she enjoys traveling with her family, and always enjoys a great book!

Having our district filled with incredible educators is a privilege. Supporting these teachers is how we stay #200Strong!
