Hastings High School has announced the hiring of Alissa Johnson as the new head coach of the Raiders varsity softball program.
Johnson, a Hastings High School graduate and former Raiders varsity shortstop, brings experience as both a player and coach, along with strong ties to the Hastings softball community.
After competing in youth and club softball, Johnson continued her playing career at the NCAA Division II level.
Her coaching experience includes five seasons with the Hastings Youth Athletic Association (HYAA) and two seasons with the Hastings High School junior varsity softball program.
Johnson currently serves as head coach of the Western Wisconsin Charge 15U National Club Team, where she also provides instruction for the organization's 14U and 15U teams. The Wisconsin Charge are located in River Falls, WI.
Hastings High School officials cited Johnson's local connections, experience developing athletes at multiple levels and passion for softball as qualities that make her a strong fit to lead the Raiders program.
The school plans to announce a meet-and-greet opportunity for players and families in the near future.
