The girls Volleyball team finished their regular season at South St. Paul last week falling three sets to one. The loss put the girls at 4-2 in the Metro East Conference (MEC) and 9-14 overall.
Hastings rolled into Packer territory on Tuesday night, Oct. 15 for their final regular season match. The girls were pumped to take on the Packers on their senior night. All four matches were extremely competitive and close, the difference being, South St. Paul simply found spaces where there was no Raider to return the shots more often than Hastings did.
Both teams had a plethora of athletic and cheer-inducing saves or returns, and the longer volleys were fun to watch for both sets of fans. Unfortunately, the Packers were able to create more scoring opportunities than Hastings had.
The Packers won the first set 25-21, Hastings rallied back for set two, winning 25-22, and then South St. Paul won out 25-18 and 27-25.
Hastings finished as the sixth seed in Section 3AAAA and they faced the three seed Park of Cottage Grove on Tuesday night. We’ll have the results of that game in next week’s paper.
The seeding went as follows.
1 – Eagan
2 - East Ridge
3 – Park
4 – Rosemount
5 – Eastview
6 – Hastings
7 – Woodbury
8 – Two Rivers
If Hastings advances, they will play the winner of East Ridge and Woodbury on Oct. 26 at the high seed. The time is yet to be determined.
