Hastings boys soccer bounced back from a conference loss with two straight victories last week, including a three-goal second half against Chanhassen on Saturday.
The Raiders opened the week Tuesday, Sept. 15, with a 3-0 loss to Two Rivers at McNamara Stadium/Todd Field. Two Rivers scored twice in the first half, getting goals from Isaias Diaz Franco in the 23rd minute and Nikola Kavic Vernon in the 24th minute. Matiyas Telahun added the final goal in the 75th minute. Two Rivers finished with a 13-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Hastings returned to the win column Thursday, Sept. 17, with a 4-3 road victory over South St. Paul. The win improved the Raiders to 3-5 on the season.
The Raiders followed that with a 3-2 nonconference victory over Chanhassen on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Chanhassen led 1-0 at halftime and extended the advantage to 2-0 in the 53rd minute. Hastings answered with three goals over the final 21 minutes. Cayden Pollex scored in the 59th minute to make it 2-1, then Parker Gieb tied the game in the 65th minute.
Gieb struck again in the 79th minute, giving Hastings the 3-2 victory. Both teams finished with 11 shots on goal.
The win moved Hastings to 4-5 overall and gave the Raiders victories in four of their last five matches.
Hastings hosts North St. Paul at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, then travels to Chaska for a 7 p.m. match Saturday, Sept. 26. The Raiders visit Simley at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, before hosting Saint Thomas Academy at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.
