Taylor Archambault - Elementary Float Sub

Like most other public and private businesses and industries, the labor shortage has caused quite a staffing shortage at ISD200. One particular position that has taken a significant hit is with substitute teaching staff. When a substitute teacher is not available to cover an absence, it causes quite a disruption where fellow teachers take on additional students in their class or give up their prep hours to cover classrooms. At times, administrative staff need to leave their roles to help cover classrooms. It’s not the ideal situation, but creatively covering classes in a time of need is the priority!

When Hastings native Taylor Archambault stepped up this year and applied as a float substitute in our elementary schools, the district was elated! “I was lucky enough to go to school in Hastings growing up and knew there was nowhere better to be,” explains Taylor.

Even though this is only her first year, she really enjoys working with so many students. “I know I am not with the same kids every day, but I want the students to know that when they see me, I am always there for them if they need me,” she says.

Ms. Archambault says that besides her parents and fiance, Brenden, the students she teaches help inspire her. I’m sure she reciprocates that inspiration right back in her classroom of kids.

It’s incredible that ISD200 employees like Taylor help our schools run smoothly, our classrooms stay staffed, and help our kids succeed. Thank you, Ms. Archambault.
