Hastings High School (HHS) senior, Rhyen Miska, was selected for an American Association of
University Women (AAUW) Minnesota Young Women for Equity 2024 grant.
Rhyen planned, oversaw and completed a needed products drive for a shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence. She established a practice that can be used for years by future Hastings High
School students.
In addition to the project for which she received the grant, Rhyen is an exceptional student co-enrolled at Inver Hills Community College, President of the HHS Feminism Club and the Red Cross Club, a Youth Impact Council student leader and Writing Center coach.
AAUW Hastings Branch is proud to have nominated and endorsed Rhyen Miska for this statewide
recognition. She was awarded this grant and a certificate of accomplishment at the AAUW MN 95th
Annual Meeting on April 27 hosted at The Confluence.
