The 2026 High School Spring Trap and Skeet Team had 93 trap shooters (70 male/23 female) under head coach Earl Robinson and 30 skeet shooters (25 male/5 female) under head skeet coach Darin Berg.
The 2026 MN Clay Target League has 55,832 student athletes representing 1,972 teams being supported by 11,350 coaches, team staff, and other volunteers. The Hastings trap team is in Class 9A Conference 2 competing for five weeks against Bemidji, Delano, Foley, New London-Spicer, Nicollet and Owatonna. At state we will compete against the 7 Conference 1 teams as well (Hermantown, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, Lakeview, New Ulm, Northfield, Norwood-Young America and Rosemount).
The skeet team was in Class 3A Conference 1 competing against Lesueur-Henderson, New Prague, New Ulm, Prior Lake, Sibley East, Southland and Wayzata. There is only one conference in Class 3A so skeet shoot against the same 7 teams for conference and state competition. Due to increased number the State Skeet Championship increased from two days to three days this year.
The fifth and final week of conference competition resulted in the trap team being in 5th place. Trap Conference Top 25 Male Ty Dubej 21st place with a 22.60 average. Conference Top 25 Females Gracie Majetich 8th place with a 20.80 average, Addison Dorham 10th place with a 20.60 average, Kenley Butler 19th place with a 19.60, Ruby Timm and Lillie Shaleen in a 22nd place tie with a 19.30 average and Savannah Munson in 24th place with a 19.20 average.
The skeet team ended conference competition in 3rd place. Skeet Conference Top 25 Overall Reed Anderson 21st place with a 22.90 average. Those averages used for Conference Top Ten Males resulted in Reed Anderson landing in 8th place.

The three-day state skeet championship was held in Prior Lake with 250 athletes representing 40 high schools through. Like our trap team the skeet team competes on the final day as one of the biggest teams in the state. The skeet team shot on June 11th. The day started out mainly dry and turned to rain and wind but the team pulled off a great finish.
One of the greatest things about these sports is that all shooters are eligible to compete at state. Based on their five-competition week average they shoot at state against others in their same division of either novice, junior varsity or varsity and it is a clean slate allowing anyone to be the champion.
The skeet team had 23 shooters compete for state division 3A (19 male/4 female) and they placed 3rd overall out of 9 teams with 456 points taking home an award that will be hung in the 3M clubhouse. Wayzata took 1st place with 479 points followed by Prior Lake in 2nd place with 473 points. We had 6 varsity shooters, 14 junior varsity and 3 novice shooters.
The skeet championship does not give team awards for each division like trap does for 1st through 3rd place. However, it should be noted that our junior varsity team ended in 1st place, varsity team placed 3rd and our novice team did not qualify because they require 5 competitors and we only had 3 compete as novice.
Our team high gun male for the novice division was Parker Sieben in 7th place (63 out of 100), junior varsity division Cayden Hedeen took 1st place (89 out of 100) and varsity division Brock Bauer in 5th place (97 out of 100). Brock shot a 24/24/25/24 missing 3 of 100 targets. It should be noted that the top five varsity shooters of the day tied with a 97. Two of those five with the highest reverse runs had a shoot off for first place.
Team high gun female for the novice division was Esme Renneke in 2nd place (64 out of 100), junior varsity division Lillie Shaleen in 2nd place (79 out of 100) and no females shot in the varsity division.
Congratulations to the following who brought home individual championship medals: Cayden Hedeen 1st place Junior Varsity Male, Lillie Shaleen 2nd place Junior Varsity female, Addison Dorham 3rd place Junior Varsity Female, Esme Renneke 2nd place Novice Female and Savannah Munson 3rd place Novice Female.
We would also like to congratulate Reed Anderson, Brock Bauer and Wyatt Maurer for shooting a straight 25 at the skeet championship, receiving state championship straight patches.
The trap team Championship will be held Tuesday, June 23rd in Alexandria. We have 77 shooters registered to compete (21 females/56 males).
