The girls individual section tournament for wrestling is held a week before the boy’s tournament and the Raiders performed very well. Of the 13 weight classes, 10 of the Raider girls placed in the top six with six wrestlers punching their ticket to the State Tournament Feb. 27-Mar. 1.
Ellie Levine, Amelia Miller and Maddy Radspinner all placed first in their weight classes. Allison Weinzettel, Olivia Levine and Cashawn Brooks each placed second, sending all six to the state meet.
Avery Levine placed third, Josie Giangiacomo and Lily Watts fourth and Annabel Norquist sixth.
The girls will wrestle on Saturday, March 1 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul starting at 8:00 a.m. with the championship rounds starting at 4:00 p.m. running until roughly 8:30 p.m. The girl’s brackets consist of eight wrestlers for each of the 13 weight classes which means all six of these Raiders are only three wins away from being a state champion.
