RAIDERS BREAK LAST YEAR’S 3D RECORD!

SEAS ELEMENTRAY 3D ARCHERY TEAM DOES IT AGAIN

Posted

The Hastings High School (HHS) Raiders and St. Elisabeth Ann Seton (SEAS) Patriots Archery Teams traveled to Stillwater on Friday and Saturday to compete in the St. Croix Prep Lions Heart Open Bullseye and 3D Tournaments. These events are part of the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
The Raiders had a huge archery weekend! They broke the school’s record for the top 3D team score with a 1617/1800! Alice Scheel, ninth grade, made the Girls Division Top Ten, finishing sixth. This would be a solid Nationals-qualifying score at State, so the Raiders will continue to work to improve even more.
The Raiders Bullseye Team came within three points of breaking the school record with a score of 3147/3600, which is also a Nationals-qualifying score at State. There were many personal bests, and the archers are striving for that 3200+ score this season.
The Raiders’ Archery Plaque is housed in Mr. Versland’s Wildlife Biology classroom, where the required 10 hours of in-school NASP instruction is taught, allowing students to view the individual and team top five records in Bullseye and 3D.
The Patriots also had another successful week. The Middle School Bullseye Team put up a whopping 3132/3600 — the highest score of the season — and earned the second spot on the school’s plaque. Our small school placed above some very large teams, and this is only mid-season with the team putting up a Nationals-qualifying score. Wyatt Shaleen took First Place in Elementary Boys and broke both his personal record and the school’s Elementary Boys top score with a 283/300! Elayna Gaebel got on the podium with a fifth-place finish in Elementary Girls.
The Patriots Elementary 3D Team, in their first year of competition, got on the podium for the second time this year with a second-place finish. Wyatt Shaleen broke the school’s 3D plaque record in Elementary Boys, taking First Place with a personal best! Blake Akre also got on the podium with a fourth-place finish in Elementary Girls.
The big story of the weekend for the SEAS Patriots was fifth-grader Wyatt Shaleen’s outstanding individual performances. Wyatt also traveled to Sartell to compete in the Sabers Subzero Shootout Bullseye Tournament, where he captured First Place in Elementary Boys and shot a perfect 50 at 15 meters. He has now swept First Place in Elementary Boys in all three tournaments he competed in.
Join us Saturday, February 28th, for the HHS Raiders Archery Team’s fundraising meat raffle at No Name Saloon in Prescott, WI, starting at 3 p.m. The team will be raffling off a TenPoint Titan X Crossbow with case, a Mathews Genesis Bow, Wild tickets, a John Deere toy tractor, and much more, along with a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will support the purchase of equipment to teach archery at the high school and in the community, as well as help build funds to host an archery tournament right here in our town.
The NASP Archery season runs through the final weekend of March, culminating in the Minnesota State NASP Bullseye & 3D Tournaments in Duluth. The season may extend into May if teams or individuals qualify at the MN State Tournament for the Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, and into June if they qualify at Nationals for the Worlds tournament, which will be held in Florida this year
