Hastings wrestling was slated to travel to Mahtomedi for a three-way meet against Two Rivers and Mahtomedi, but the Zephyrs had to cancel due to illness. That forced the remaining two teams to scramble for a place to face each other.

Head Coach Tim Haneberg was excited that the Raiders could host on such short notice.

“That’s a great thing about Hastings. We made it work here at the high school,” he said.

Gym space is at a premium during winter months, and it looked as though some of the youth basketball teams helped out by adjusting their schedules to let the wrestlers get their dual in. The cooperation of teams in town is incredible and the wrestling folks knew how the basketball teams helped them, so they made sure to hustle in cleaning up the mats to allow the ballers to get out and practice as quickly as possible.

“Two Rivers came down, and we wrestled really, really well tonight, all the way from the from the bottom to the top. It was a phenomenal performance by the team,” added Haneberg.

Here are the results of the dual versus Two Rivers.
