To the editor:
As long-time residents of Hastings and School District 200, we are impressed by the high quality of education provided for our children. We have observed the work of our teachers, staff, and administrators through classroom, athletic, and performing arts observations. The quality of the education provided has been exemplary.
Today, we are faced with many challenges to the definition of “quality education.” As our world and community become more diverse, it is important that our education system address these issues with age-appropriate teaching materials and support from our school board, which sets appropriate policies to govern these issues.
Quality education stems from the support of the citizens of Hastings and the surrounding area which is manifested in part by the election of school board members with whom we entrust the responsibility of providing appropriate management and policies that enable the staff, teachers, parents, and community to continue providing high-quality education for all children, regardless of cultural background or learning capability.
After reviewing the background and qualifications of the candidates for the school board of School District 200, we support the election of Matt Bruns, Mariah Ring, Matt Seeger, and Brandy Wentzler.
