Dozens of guests gathered at Simply Still Spa, 1250 N Frontage Rd #206, to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of Krehbiel Natural Health, a new wellness practice that brings a personalized, natural approach to health care in Hastings. With door prizes, snacks, and refreshments in hand, the community welcomed Gwen Krehbiel, certified natural health practitioner, who brings not only a wealth of training but also a deeply personal story of healing.
“I healed from breast cancer 100% naturally,” said Krehbiel during an interview. “It was through that journey I realized I had to help others find healing, too.”
For Krehbiel, healing wasn’t just about addressing the cancer. It was about tackling the root causes, Lyme disease, giardia, H. pylori, and other underlying issues that left her body vulnerable. With encouragement from her naturopath and what she describes as a nudge from God, she pursued training in natural health. Now, she's using that knowledge to help others reclaim their health.
“I pray for all of my clients,” she shared. “Not that they have to be Christian, but that the right people come through my door so I can help them.”
From homeschool mom to natural health practitioner
Before launching her practice, Krehbiel spent nearly two decades as a homeschool mom, raising two sons, both Eagle Scouts. She balanced teaching with work in the USDA's rural development and the U.S. Forest Service. Her passion for education carries over into her health practice.
Krehbiel doesn’t just provide supplements or offer generic advice, her approach is thorough and personal. Each client receives a tailored health plan, beginning with a comprehensive two-hour consultation. But behind that initial meeting are hours of preparation: reviewing health histories, analyzing labs, and crafting individualized recommendations.
“I spend about five hours total on that first visit,” she explained. “I want to make sure I understand everything about their health, so we can make real changes.”
What Krehbiel offers
The core of Krehbiel Natural Health revolves around addressing inflammation, detoxifying the body, and balancing hormones. Her primary tool is Shape Reclaimed, an anti-inflammatory program that includes specialized drops designed to reset the body’s systems.
“In simple terms, it helps with toxic weight loss,” Krehbiel explained. “But it’s more than that. We’re reducing inflammation, rebalancing the hypothalamus and pituitary glands, boosting the immune system, and supporting gentle detoxification.”
Inflammation, she notes, can show up in countless ways: high cholesterol, A1C levels, bursitis, PCOS, and more. To monitor progress, Krehbiel uses in-body composition scans and urine analysis, providing concrete data to ensure fat loss, not muscle loss, and inflammation reduction.
Additionally, she employs a ZYTO bioscan, a device that reads digital signatures from the body to assess nearly 200 biomarkers, including teeth, vertebrae, meridians, and emotional health.
“It’s like muscle testing, but more detailed,” she said.
And if a client hasn’t had recent lab work done? Krehbiel can order metabolic and hormone panels to get a full picture. Her approach includes functional lab analysis, meaning she evaluates lab results with an eye for optimal, not just “normal”, ranges.
“I correlate data from different labs,” she said. “It’s not just about whether something falls within a standard range. If you don’t feel good, I want to know why.”
A focus on women’s health (but not just women)
While Krehbiel works with clients of all ages, from children as young as six to seniors in their 90s, she has a particular passion for supporting women through perimenopause, menopause, and beyond.
“Men don’t experience it the same way,” she laughed. “For women, hormones can make life miserable. I love helping them get back to feeling like themselves.”
But men aren’t left out. She works with anyone looking to reclaim their health, whether they’re pre-diabetic, struggling with cholesterol, or just seeking to improve their quality of life.
As I shared my own health journey, managing a heart condition, pre-diabetes, and cholesterol issues, it became clear how adaptable Krehbiel’s approach is. Whether you’re shedding toxic weight, improving hormone balance, or aiming for better longevity, her goal is to guide you to sustainable health.
Community partnerships and more
Krehbiel also partners with local businesses to offer more comprehensive wellness options. She works with Anytime Fitness to ensure clients have access to exercise coaching and collaborates with a local chiropractor for additional support.
And because weight loss often leads to needing new clothes, she recently partnered with La Ti Da Boutique in downtown Hastings, joking that a new wardrobe is inevitable.
Though currently lacking a menswear option, Krehbiel assured me, “I’m working on it.”
