There is something so exciting about seeing a familiar name and face splashed across ads in the news paper or on fliers in the mail. It is especially exciting when that familiar face is someone you know pretty well. Jen Fox has been apart of my life in some way shape or form for about 20 years; first, she was the friendly neighbor from across the street, then she was the awe-inspiring assistant director for the local varsity show-choir, and most recently she has been a rock star city council member. Jen Fox is the kind of person who can quiet a room with just her presence and fill it back up with the sounds of jovial laughter. Everyone wants to hear what she has to say!
I got to experience her leadership abilities first hand through her time as the assistant director of Riverside Company through Hastings High school, and I have got to say there was no better fit for the role than her! She was kind but firm, she was a decisive leader and yet still managed to make everyone feel heard. She made it her goal to boost the confidence and self-esteem of every member of the Riverside Company, and there was a clear change in all of the students involved from the beginning of the season to the end. Jen Fox had the ability to walk into the practice rooms and immediately have everyone's attention, not because she was intimidating or scary, but because we all wanted to hear what it was she had to say. And being the daughter of two educators, I can personally tell you how impressive it is that Jen was able to command the attention of 40 highschool students by just standing at the front of the room. Jen Fox is the kind of leader that suited our city council as it was obvious to all she had Hastings best interests at heart, and it is incredibly obvious to me that she is the only candidate worthy of representing district 41B. She has my vote!
