IT’S HOMECOMING WEEK!

Posted

Homecoming week is one of the school district’s most energetic weeks of the school year with multiple sports hosting games, a multitude of events for students across the district and of course, the Friday afternoon Pep Fest, football on Friday night and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday.
This year’s festivities kicked off with the announcement of the Home Coming Court on Friday followed by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Volleyball tournament on Sunday evening. Monday saw the Powder Puff football game where the ladies of the high school take over Todd Field for flag football. The teams are coached by current Raider football players, and it is a tournament format with the grades taking each other on.
Most of the various sports teams host a home game with a tie to the Homecoming week. Cross Country and Girls Swim and Dive being the two exceptions this year. The sports week culminates with the Raider football hosting Two Rivers on Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. The Halftime of Homecoming is always extended so that the court can be introduced followed by the Marching Band show and the Pom Squad, an extension of the winter Dance Team.
In each level of the school district, elementary, middle school and high school, there are different themed days for students to participate in from Tuesday through Friday with Friday being the same for all levels, “Raider Day!”. The elementary level has Class Color on Tuesday, Wednesday is Sports Day and Thursday is Pajama Day. Middle Schoolers have Tourist Day on Tuesday, Sports Day on Wednesday and Pink Out on Thursday. High School is Blackout Tuesday, Soccer Mom vs BBQ Dad on Wednesday and Night In vs Night Out on Thursday.
The spirit week ends on Saturday for the high school with the Homecoming Dance from 8-10:30 p.m.
