The Hastings girls tennis team fell 7-0 to South St. Paul on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Roosevelt Tennis Courts.
South St. Paul claimed each of the four singles matches in straight sets. Annie Spreigl defeated Emery Hedeen 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Grace Spreigl earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Maelyn Kirk in the No. 2 position.
Mira Gross topped Samantha Seaman 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Evy Hogan challenged Audrey Schultz in the second set at No. 4 singles before Schultz completed a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
Hastings’ closest match of the dual came at No. 2 doubles. Nolee Kochendorfer and Andee Kochendorfer faced Tessa Gorman and Kalia Buckmaster. The South St. Paul pairing won the opening set 6-2, but the Hastings duo pushed the second set to a deciding score before falling 7-6.
At No. 1 doubles, Libby Meyer and Liberty Felton defeated Sophia Johnson and Annie Majeski 6-0, 6-2. Tara Gorman and Abby Satre completed the South St. Paul sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Megan Sieben and Briella Bauer at No. 3 doubles.
The Raiders enter a busy stretch of five scheduled varsity duals in nine days. Hastings hosts Farmington at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, followed by another home match against North St. Paul at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10. The Raiders host Eastview at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, travel to Tartan for a 3:30 p.m. match Tuesday, Sept. 15, and return home to face Mahtomedi at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.
