Hastings soccer squads look ahead after 0-2 starts

Hastings opened the 2026 boys and girls soccer seasons with a pair of non-conference matches for each team, with both Raider squads starting the year 0-2 after games against Eastview and Bloomington Jefferson.
The Hastings boys opened Thursday, Aug. 27, against Eastview at McNamara Stadium/Todd Field. Eastview earned a 4-0 victory, scoring four times while holding the Raiders scoreless.
Jackson Brents scored twice for Eastview, while Sam Mehari and Sam Villafranca each added a goal. Eastview finished with 10 shots on goal, while Hastings recorded two.
The Raiders returned to action Saturday, Aug. 29, traveling to Bloomington Jefferson. Hastings found the net twice in its second match of the season, but Jefferson came away with a 3-2 victory. No individual scoring or goalkeeper statistics were available for the match.
Hastings finished the opening week 0-2 and will have several days before returning to the field. The boys travel to Apple Valley for a noon match Saturday, Sept. 5. They return home to face Burnsville at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, then travel to Tartan for a 7 p.m. Metro East Conference match Thursday, Sept. 10.
The Hastings girls followed a similar path during their opening week, beginning the season Thursday against Eastview at McNamara Stadium/Todd Field.
Eastview defeated Hastings 4-0 in the non-conference matchup. Kailey Klingelhut led Eastview with two goals, while Alexa Hanson and Francesca Kern each scored once. Eastview put 14 shots on goal, compared with five for Hastings.
The Raider girls were back on the field Saturday morning at Bloomington Jefferson. Hastings scored twice, but Jefferson finished with a 3-2 victory. No additional individual statistics were available from the match.
The girls also finished their first week at 0-2, but will have an opportunity to get back on the field sooner. Hastings hosts Kasson-Mantorville at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at McNamara Stadium/Todd Field. The Raiders then host Burnsville at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, before traveling to Tartan for a 5 p.m. Metro East Conference match Thursday, Sept. 10.
