Hastings, MN — The Hastings River Blades Skating School, proudly representing the Hastings Civic Arena, recently took home the Overall Championship Team Trophy at the Summer Breeze Competition held June 27–28, 2025, at the Woog Arena. Riding the momentum of this impressive victory, the team is now preparing to compete in the largest annual recreational ice-skating event in the U.S., the 2025 Ice Sports Industry (ISI) World Recreational Team Championships.

At Summer Breeze, the River Blades competed against 11 other teams and demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and consistency. The championship trophy was awarded based on cumulative points earned across individual and team events, showcasing the depth of talent within the program.

“Our skaters have shown incredible dedication and unity throughout the competition season,” said Amanda Truax, Director of the River Blades Skating School. “Winning the Summer Breeze Overall Team Trophy is a testament to their hard work and passion for the sport.”

After a successful showing at the Summer Breeze Competition, the Hastings River Blades Skating School is now preparing for their biggest challenge yet — the 2025 ISI World Recreational Team Championships. Skaters of all levels are eagerly getting ready to compete in a wide variety of events, including individual, partner, and team categories. This exciting national competition will be held July 24–27 at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota, and brings together more than 800 skaters from 46 rink teams across 16 states and the Philippines.

“The World Championships offer our skaters a fantastic opportunity to compete on a national stage among some of the most talented recreational skaters in the country,” added Truax. “We’re proud to represent Hastings and look forward to giving our best at ISI Worlds.”

This fall, River Blades Skating School will proudly celebrate its 20th anniversary of providing ice sports opportunities to skaters of all ages and levels — from beginners to elite figure skaters and hockey players. As part of the anniversary celebration, the public is invited to a very special Skate with Santa event in December — a magical, family-friendly tradition with extra sparkle this year.

The celebration continues in March 2026 with a spectacular Disney-themed anniversary ice show, transforming the Hastings Civic Arena into a full theater on ice. The theme honors Director Amanda Truax’s eight-year professional career as a skater with Disney on Ice. Tickets will be available at the door.

In addition, ice-skating lessons resume in October and January, welcoming new and returning skaters from Hastings and surrounding communities.

The River Blades invite the public to join in celebrating two decades of skating excellence while supporting the team as they represent Hastings at ISI Worlds and beyond.
