As temperatures begin to drop, the Hastings Knights of Columbus Council 1600 is stepping up to ensure no child in our community goes without the basic necessity of a warm winter coat. Through the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program, the Council will distribute free new winter coats to children in need.
Distribution Details: Date: Saturday, November 15
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Location: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2035 15th St. West, Hastings Please enter through the west doors.
Coats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with sizes available for both boys and girls. There are no eligibility requirements—any family in need is welcome.
Today, an estimated eighteen percent of American children live in poverty. For many families, the cost of a new winter coat can be a significant financial burden. The Knights of Columbus’ Coats for Kids initiative is dedicated to easing that burden and ensuring children can stay warm, safe, and healthy throughout the winter season. Since its inception, the program has provided more than one million coats to children across the United States and Canada.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve families in our community,” said Tony Jurgens of Council 1600. “A warm coat can make a big difference in a child’s life, not just physically, but emotionally, helping them stay warm all winter long as they go to school, play outside, and enjoy the Minnesota weather.”
Hastings Family Service is providing caps and mittens for the distribution. Coats that are left after the distribution at SEAS Church on Nov. 15th will be donated to Hastings Family Service.
Please help spread the word to anyone who could benefit.
