The Hastings High School Trap Team attended the 2022 MN State High School Clay Target League Trap Championship on June 21st in Alexandria. Over 7,900 shooters from over 340 teams around the State competed over nine days at the World’s Largest Youth Trap Shooting sport event. We had 82 students (59 male and 23 female) shoot on the final day of competition.

Out of 16 teams shooting in Class 9A Hastings placed 10th overall with 451 points. The firstplace team was Prior Lake with 481 points. Our 25member novice team finished in 3rd place out of 16 teams, our 32 member junior varsity team finished in 2nd place out of 16 teams and our 25 member varsity team finished in 10th place out of 15 teams. Hastings high gun males were Daniel Kiral (77 of 100) who tied for 6th place overall in the Novice Division, Walter Jung (90 of 100) who tied for 5th place in the Junior Varsity Division and Taren Connell (90 of 100) who tied for 36th place in the Varsity Division. The MN State High School Clay Target League recognizes the shooters with the top 100 league averages as the MN State High School Clay Target League AllState Trap Team. These students receive a special All-State patch and qualify for the MN State High School League State Tournament. Varsity shooter Brennen Kieffer qualified with a 24.40 average and had the honor of competing at the invite only tournament in Prior Lake on June 25th. Brennen shot against the top 92 shooters in the state shooting 94 out of 100, landing him a tie for 57th place. This is a remarkable honor knowing that there are over 10,000 kids shooting in the MN High School League.

We are pleased to announce that we have 7 shooters registered for the National High School Clay Target League trap championship in Mason, Michigan July 6th – 10th. They will be competing against 3,000 of the nation’s best youth trap shooters at a 44 trap house facility. Our team/individual competitors are Carter Bauer, Taren Connell, Cody Frandrup, Brennen Kieffer, Tanner Lamb, Brock Mosher and Luke Nadeau.
