The Hastings gymnastics team performed well at home against Mahtomedi on Thursday, Jan. 18 but narrowly lost in all-around score 127.9-118.25.
Mahtomedi is always a strong team and is expected at or near the top in league play this year.
Elsie Bauer took third overall for the Raiders all-around, and Cecilia Corum was fourth. Bauer posted a second-best score of 7.75 on bars.
Sydney Hosler took seventh, while Nicole McGraw and Delaney McGraw were ninth and 10th, respectively for the Raiders. Ava Klug was right behind in 11th, and Haley Herman took 12th.
Hastings coach Jeanne Kasel said her team is working hard this season.
“We have had a great season so far, working through a few minor injury pains,” said Kasel. “Mahtomedi is a top team in our conference.”
“The team as a whole has been working on new skills to add to their routines. The girls have much more in them to add and complete, so we are looking forward to each week progressing forward for each one of them.”
Hastings took 11th overall at the Below Zero Invite at Park High School Saturday. Bauer and Klug had the top two finishes, with Bauer taking 28th all around with a score of 31.050, and Lug in 29th at 30.650.
