Gymnasts show promise and gain experience at home triangular

The Hastings Raiders girls gymnastics team was back on the home floor Tuesday night, hosting a triangular meet on Dec. 10 with Minneapolis Washburn and St. Paul Highland Park. The meet began at 6:00 p.m. and gave Hastings another early season opportunity to measure progress, gain experience, and compete in front of a supportive home crowd.
Team scores showed St. Paul Highland Park leading the field with a 125.675 total, followed by Minneapolis Washburn at 118.75. Hastings finished with a team score of 106.6, continuing to build depth across all four events as the season moves along.
Vault proved to be one of Hastings’ stronger rotations on the night, as the Raiders posted a 31.95 team score. Makenna McGraw led the way with an 8.35, while Aubrey Strohfus added an 8.2. Katelynn Qualy chipped in with a 7.75, and Morgan Kennedy followed close behind at 7.65, helping Hastings stay competitive early in the meet.
Bars was a tougher event for the Raiders, who totaled 21.15 as a team. Kennedy recorded a 6.05 to lead Hastings, with McGraw scoring a 5.6 and Strohfus posting a 5.3. Autumn Nelton added a 4.2, gaining valuable meet experience.
Beam brought steady efforts and some encouraging moments. Hastings finished with a 25.9 team score, highlighted by Ava Klug’s strong 8.4. Strohfus followed with a 7.9, and Graceann Olson added a 4.6. Chloe Mattson contributed a 5.0, helping the Raiders stay composed on one of the meet’s more challenging events.
On floor, Hastings closed the night with a team score of 27.6. Qualy led the Raiders with an 8.0, while Kennedy scored a 7.15 and Mattson added a 6.7. Kinsley Frandrup also contributed with a 5.75, rounding out the rotation.
In the all around, Strohfus posted a 21.4 to lead Hastings, followed closely by Kennedy at 20.85. As the Raiders continue their season, the triangular meet offered both competitive moments and clear areas for growth, setting the stage for continued improvement in the weeks ahead.
Hastings travels to Simley on Dec. 18 to close out the 2025 portion of the season and returns to action at North St. Paul on Jan. 8, both meets are scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
