To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $950,615 contract with prime contractor Haas Sons, Inc. of Thorp for a safety improvement project on US 10 just east of the County E intersection in the Pierce County town of Oak Grove. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, May 19; that start is weather dependent.

WisDOT is holding a virtual stakeholder meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 via Teams to go over the proposed work, schedule and traffic impacts with the public. Participants can join by:

The intersection has a high crash rate. To address that, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is planning to:

• Reconstruct approximately 1,000 feet of US 10 east of the County E intersection to lower the state highway's vertical curve by about five feet to increase motorists’ sight distance
• Replace culvert pipe
• Place new pavement markings

During construction, US 10 will be closed to traffic just east of County E and just west of 530^th Avenue after an asphalt overlay is placed on 530^th Avenue. Local traffic will be detoured via County E and 530^th Avenue. Trucks weighing more than 20 tons will be detoured via WIS 35 and WIS 65.

Construction is expected to be completed by mid-July.
