The Raider Girls Hockey team entered the week 6-1 with two games on the schedule for the week, Red Wing (0-7-0) on Dec. 10 and Section 3AA foe Eastview (2-6-2) on Dec. 13. The Red Wing team is still a very young and struggling team with multiple double-digit losses on their schedule already. Hastings added to their misery by winning 10-0. Eastview is on a bit of a down year too, but that game went to overtime where Hastings won 3-2.
At Red Wing
The Class A Wingers did not put up much of a fight against the Class AA Raiders logging only 12 total shots all game against Alyssa Sandquist who logged her first ever varsity start. On the other end of the ice, Hastings took 54 total shots.
Grace Petrich, Addie Seleski and Jade Schauer each tallied four points with Petrich scoring the hat trick plus an assist, Seleski scoring once plus three assists and Schauer splitting the difference going with two goals and two assists. Lauren Muhl scored once and added two assists to her point total for the year. Haley Siebenaler scored a goal plus an assist, copying Olyvia Erickson who did the same. Anni Schriefer tallied two assists as did Ella Hauschildt. Clare Rieder scored one goal, and Josie Hamann earned an assist to round out the points for Hastings.
Hastings had eight penalty minutes on four infractions and Redwing had one penalty for two minutes. Both teams killed 100 percent of the penalties they had.
Versus Eastview
The Lightning took the first period lead scoring 3:27 into the game. Hastings tied the game at 14:04 into the second period when Erickson and Seleski found Schauer to the goal to even things up. Then 5:41 into the third period, Hastings took the lead thanks to Schriefer and Seleski connecting with Muhl. Four minutes later, Eastview tied the game on the power play, forcing overtime.
The extended game only went on for another 6:53 when Erickson found the back of the net for the game winner. She was assisted by Schauer and Seleski.
The game was more of a defensive affair with both teams kept at bay on the shot counter. Hastings took 28 shots and Eastview only 21. Victoria Steinke played the entire 57:53 of game time stopping 19 of the 21 shots she faced for a .905 save percentage.
Both teams had eight penalty minutes on four infractions. Hastings successfully killed three of the four penalties while Eastview stopped all four of the Raiders skater advantages.
