The book on the historic inaugural season of the Hastings High School Dance Team is officially closed with their final performance at the section meet. This was the first year that Hastings had an MSHSL sanctioned team and the girls did admirably all season long representing Hastings in some very tough competitions. The section meet is quite a long day for both the team and fans with multiple sections performing throughout the day.
The Raiders are in Section 3AAA with eleven other teams. For the overall score, the higher score is better, for ranking point total, lower is better. Two Rivers, a perennial state contender, took first in the Jazz Category with a score of 603 and a ranking point total of nine. Hastings finished eighth with a total score of 480 and a ranking point total of 40.
For High Kick, Two Rivers was again the winning team with a ranking point total of five. Hastings finished in ninth place with a ranking point total of 47.5, just half a point ahead of Woodbury.
Head Coach Kayla Sohn had this to say about the final performance of the season, “We are incredibly pleased with this outcome as it was our first year and we only practice three hours a week compared to these other teams that practice three hours a day. We know this has been a whirlwind of a season navigating everything new coming at us, but we did SO WELL and truly the sky's the limit for what we can achieve in future years.”
Congratulations to a successful first year of dance to our Raider Dance Team!
