The Hastings boys basketball team picked up a much-needed win over Hill Murray Jan. 25.
It was just what the doctor ordered for the Raiders, who were on an 11-game skid coming into the contest.
Hill Murray had the lead heading into halftime, 28-22, but Hastings fought back in the second half to win, 62-60. Jonathon Watson led the Raiders scoring with 20, Ty Krick and Owen Bernatz each had 10, and Kelvin Maher had.
Hastings then traveled to Inver Grove Heights to take on the Simley Spartans on Jan. 28. Simley took control early and never let up leading. 40-18 at the end of the first half and defeating the Raiders, 72-44. Bernatz topped the Raider scoring with 16, Watson had 13 and Will Hubbard had 6.
During the Hill Murray game, one of the key seniors for the Raiders, Michael Mitchell injured his hand near the beginning of the second half and reportedly is expected to be out for a few weeks.
The Raiders will host Stillwater on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. and then travel to Tartan on Feb. 4 for a 7:30 p.m. tip. Duluth East comes to town Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. and then the Raiders will travel to Two Rivers on Feb. 10 for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
