Boys and Girls Golf headed to Section meets

The Hastings golf teams are headed to their section meets after playing their conference finals last week. The girls were at Highland National Golf Course in St. Paul and the Boys were at Loggers Trail in Stillwater. The girls finished fifth and the boys fourth in the conference.
Girls Conference Final
Highland National in St. Paul has been a frequent host site for the conference final meet for the girls. As a team, the girls finished fifth with a score of 370, nine strokes behind fourth place Simley. Mahtomedi won the conference meet with a 329 team score.
Claire Stoffel led the way for Hastings with an 89, Gabi McDowell – 91, Madison Haines – 94, Harmon Brown – 96, Emily Thuet – 103 and Brooke Jelley – 113.
Boys Conference Final
The boys conference finals for the Metro East Conference seem to rotate around more frequently than the girls and this year it was at Loggers Trail in Stillwater. The boys started out strong and at one point were only three strokes out of first place. That was fairly early in the day, which left room for a lot of golf remaining. They finished fourth as a team with a score of 325, just four strokes out of third place and 15 strokes behind the winner Mahtomedi who shot 310 as a team.
Luke Kendall led the way for Hastings with a 79. Jon Harris – 80, Will Rieder and Trey Bremer – 83, David Bauer – 85, and Matthew Schwieger – 90.
Both teams will travel to Loggers Trail in Stillwater on May 30 for the Section 3AAA Tournament. The boys start at 8:30 a.m. and the girls start at 11:00. If you make the trip to watch, do not let the appearance of the clubhouse and restaurant deceive you. The building is very minimalistic yet exceptionally functional and the course is beautiful. The folks at Loggers Trail believe in keeping things simple and they invest their efforts into the course. You will enjoy following your favorite golfer around the course for a few hours.
