The Hastings High School (HHS) Raiders and St. Elisabeth Ann Seton (SEAS) Patriots Archery Teams competed at Forrest Lakes Lake’s Lakes International Language Academy (LILA) during the White Bear Lake and LILA 3D Winter Shootout, a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) and International Bow Hunting Organization (IBO) 3D tournament.
For the Raiders, it was their first time shooting 3D, and they established a solid baseline to build upon for the season. Patriots Archer, fourth grader Josie Weber, earned a spot on the podium with a fourth-place finish in Elementary Girls.
The following day, Saturday, January 11th, the Raiders and Patriots Archers participated in the White Bear Lake & LILA Bullseye Winter Shootout at White Bear Lake High School. Eighth grader Esme Renneke of the Patriots was the first archer from either team to shoot a perfect 50-round for the season. This was her first perfect 50 pin, and she also shot a personal best score of 278, earning second place in Middle School Girls.
Additionally, fourth grader Blake Akre, competing in her first archery tournament, claimed first place in Elementary Girls for the Patriots!
Saturday, January 18th the teams were at Johnson High School in St. Paul to compete in the Open World Learning (OWL) Open. HHS celebrated another major milestone with ninth grader Natalie Seefeld earning the school’s first letter in NASP Archery. The Patriots had two individuals reach the podium, seventh grader Will Hager took fifth in Middle School Boys and fifth grader Chase Scheel placed fourth in Elementary Boys.
Next, the Raiders and Patriots will compete in both Bullseye and NASP/IBO 3D events at the Foley Falcons Nocked & Loaded Invitational at the Foley High School Field House on Saturday, January 25th.
The NASP Archery season runs through the final weekend of March, culminating in the Minnesota State NASP Bullseye & NASP/IBO 3D Tournaments in St. Cloud. The season may extend into May if teams or individuals qualify at the MN State Tournament for the Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, and into June if they qualify at Nationals for the Worlds tournament, which will be held in North Carolina this year.
