As it prepares for the post-season, the Hastings wrestling team is working in as much quality competition as it can.

Hastings hosted Shakopee in its Senior Night meet Thursday and then traveled to Bemidji for a triangular meet Friday night.

Shakopee has more than double the enrollment of Hastings, so it was a tough night for the Raiders in their last match on their home mat for the season. Shakopee won, 41-18.

Hastings got wins from Gavin Lambert at 114, Blake Beissel at 121, Trey Beissel at 127 and Derrick Steinke at 285.

Hastings hopped on the bus for the four-hour trip to Bemidji Friday afternoon. In addition to the home team, the Raiders squared off against Stillwater, ranked third in the state.

At 139, Mark Svoboda won an exciting match by a 9-7 decision.

After Stillwater defeated Bemidji 31-19, Hastings downed the home school by a score of 34-36 in the night’s most exciting match.
