The Hastings Hurricanes, the newest team in the Federal League for players 35 years old and older, teamed up with the Hastings Hawks for a Veterans Park Double Header on Friday for Rivertown Days. Nick Tuckner is the manager for the Hurricanes and his son Dallas often takes on the bat boy role. Dallas is pictured with Hurricane and Hawk, Jordy Horsch. The games were broadcast on HCTV’s YouTube channel. Both teams fell in their games, the Canes fell to the Mammoth 13-6 and the Hawks fell to Lyons Pub 12-2.

Thursday night, after the festivities at the LeDuc Mansion, the Hastings Golf Club/Hastings Public House held an Antique Fire Engine Light Show. The fire engines pumped water from the pond through their hoses and into the air to be lit up with the water ultimately going back into the pond.

Merchants Bank, Culvers, and Subway sponsored a community appreciation and Rivertown Days kickoff event at the LeDuc Mansion. Culvers grilled burgers, Subway passed out chips and cookies and at the end of the food line, G&G Petite Sweets gave out delicious fried brownies on a stick. Bottled Water was also provided for guests.

The second annual Wiffle Ball tournament was held at Pioneer Park for Rivertown Days. 12 teams of various ages, genders and skills made up of family and friends competed for the championship on three fields.

The Rich Valley RC Club put on their annual club fly-in which is open to the public. The members bring all sorts of airplanes for guests to enjoy with flights rotating between pilots all day long.
