A political argument in Randolph took a turn for the worse.
Nicholas Joseph Sullivan, 43, Randolph was charged with a felony count of 3rd degree assault after an altercation Jan. 16.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an assault at Woody’s Liquor Box in Randolph Township. A woman was sitting in her vehicle and appeared upset and said she needed medical attention. She said the man who assaulted her was an employee in the store and they had a “political argument” that escalated, and he shoved her onto her back outside the store.
Sullivan told a deputy that the woman had entered the story and made comments about him being a supporter of President Trump, as well as comments about ICE. He told deputies he told the woman to leave the store and escorted her out. She continued to shout at him, and he pushed her out the front door where she fell to the ground. The woman reportedly suffered a broken arm and wrist that required surgical repair as well as six broken ribs.
