Ms. Jacquelyn Morrison has always had a passion for learning and teaching others. In fact, as a child, when she played school, she insisted on always being the instructor! She couldn’t see herself being anything other than a teacher!

After attending Minnesota State Mankato, she began her career, and is in her 13th year of teaching! We’re lucky to have her experience and passion helping out our students in the Hastings School District. Special education teachers are some of the most incredible education specialists, working with many kids who all have different hurdles to jump. The need for teachers like Morrison need is great - and the impact is even bigger!

When asked about some of the best things about being a teacher, Jacquelyn said she enjoys the daily interactions with young adults, the growth she gets to witness, and the positive role model she is privileged to be for the high school students. She is the one who feels lucky!

“We have such an amazing community at school, and some of the best teachers around! Hastings High School students truly have amazing support in their corners.” she said.

Jacquelyn and her husband Jason recently moved to Hastings, because they wanted their children to attend schools here, and to be part of this community.

When Morrison isn’t busy helping our students succeed, she is busy with three of her own kiddos. Ida is 6, Leona 5 and Cyrus is almost 2. She is close to her extended family, spending time together with her sisters, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. They enjoy playing games together, traveling - and when she finds some quiet time, she loves a good book!

It says something about our district that our educators choose to also raise their family in our community. They are dedicated not only to their family, but to ours as well. We are so incredibly lucky to have amazing resources and dedicated teachers like Ms. Morrison in our district. Having our district filled with these caring and compassionate educators is why we are #200Strong!
