Hampton, Vermillion and New Trier Catholic churches will host national pilgrimage

The Catholic Church of the United States is hosting a National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis this summer, and pilgrims from across America will converge on Indianapolis for the event.
Four different Eucharistic Pilgrimages will take place. The northern route, called the Marian Route, starts at the Headwaters of the Mississippi River on May 17. It will wind its way down and enter the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis on May 24.
On May 30, the pilgrimage will leave Farmington in the morning and reach Hampton before noon.
Fr. Mike Tix is the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and he also oversees the parishes of Hampton, New Trier and Vermillion. He’s looking forward to the parishes hosting the event.
“At a winter meeting it was mentioned to me that early plans had the Eucharistic Procession going through our parishes. It was a surprise for me to learn this as I hadn't yet heard about the route and am thrilled that we have this opportunity to both renew the sense of the real presence of Christ in our parishes, and that we have been selected to host people from across the Archdiocese wanting to be a part of this special time,” said Tix.
“I know that in selecting parishes that they wanted to highlight the variety and diversity of our Archdiocese, which includes our rural parishes that are thriving today and built on a history of faith that goes back many years.”
“The Eucharistic Revival is an initiative of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops coming out of COVID to renew our belief in the Eucharist as the summit and source of the church's life. Coming out of COVID, the Revival is an attempt to help people appreciate the Mass and reaffirm our belief in the real presence of Christ as the Eucharist, and how at Mass the bread and wine become for us the Body and Blood of Jesus as nourishment for the journey of life,” said Tix.
The schedule for the events in Hampton, Vermillion and New Trier is as follows:

The pilgrimage will join the three others that are working their way to Indianapolis for the 10th National Eucharistic Congress which starts July 17, running through July 21. The last one was held in 1941 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
“This will be one of the largest Eucharistic pilgrimages in history. Just as crowds followed Christ throughout his earthly ministry, our national will process with our Eucharistic Lord over 6,500 miles – through cities, along highways and past rural towns – on the way to the 10th National Eucharistic Congress,” according to event information.
The National Eucharistic Congress is held at Lucas Oil Stadium.
“At this historic gathering, Catholics from every corner and every parish in our nation will come together in Indianapolis to reconsecrate their hearts to the source and summit of our faith. Every movement needs a moment… this is ours,” according to event information.
