Grateful people give back - and those of us living in the Hastings School District are lucky that one of those people is our very own Beth Ann Kerber.

Kerber grew up in Hastings, attended Pinecrest Elementary, and graduated from Hastings High School. In addition to being active in choir and music, she was also involved in her family’s church community.

As she was growing up, Beth Ann watched her father inspire kids during his career as a Hastings teacher, and she still has fond memories of the many wonderful teachers who helped her discover her love for public education.

After graduating Winona State University, Kerber started a job that she knew was not her calling in life. At that point, she went back to school and obtained a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin in River Falls. She has been a teacher for the past 20 years and has never looked back since.

Kerber said she enjoys the experience of witnessing students when they have that “aha” moment as they grasp what she has been teaching them.

“It is also so rewarding to hear the laughter when silly moments arise and be a part of the teachable moments when we work together as a community to help one another learn and grow,” she said. “Those moments are special and ones I treasure – in addition to the day-to-day challenges that help me grow as an individual as well.”

Beth Ann hopes parents know how blessed and privileged she feels to have their children be a part of her classroom community. She feels honored to be a part of their lives each day.

“I hope to instill in their children a love of learning and respect for one another as they continue their academics, as well as help prepare them for the world outside of school one day,” she explained.

When she is not inspiring students in the classroom, she enjoys hiking, photography and traveling as time permits.

Ms. Kerber clearly found her calling, and is only one of the many incredible teachers in ISD200 who have dedicated their entire career to our community. Selfless teachers like her continue to make us #200 Strong!
