Upcoming Fourth of July events

Posted

It is hard to believe that the Fourth of July is already upon us, but here we are just a few short days away from some great local events celebrating this great nation’s freedom. Locally there are three events for residents to enjoy that include fireworks, a parade and more fireworks.

Hastings Golf Club (HGC) is holding their second annual Fourth of July parade that starts at 7 p.m. The parade will run from St. Elisabeth Ann Seton church at the corner of 15th Street East and General Sieben Drive and work its way east along 15th St. W until it reaches Westview Drive where the turn will be made onto Westview drive to the Golf Club. The route is roughly 1.5 miles and provides plenty of space for families to view the parade. Please be respectful of the private residences that you sit in front of.

After the parade, Hastings Golf Club is also hosting the annual Fourth of July Fireworks show sponsored by Vermillion State Bank, set to start to 10 p.m. Vermillion State Bank has been the longtime sponsor of this event and the Golf Club has been the site for the show. Since ownership changed, the group at Hastings Golf Club have worked to make the on-site event more entertaining than just the fireworks. Residents are encouraged to check out the full event at HGC. The fireworks will begin at dusk.

Each year, on July 3, Treasure Island Resort and Casino present their fireworks spectacular on the casino grounds. The good news is, viewers can watch the amazing show from either the river, the parking lot or the roads around Treasure Island. Please be aware that at some point, the road to the nuclear power plant becomes restricted space, so pay attention if you choose to park on that road. Again, the fireworks begin at dusk.
