United Heroes League will bring music, food and community together in Hastings on Friday, Sept. 11, for Freedom Fest 2026, an event that will also commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Freedom Fest will be held at the United Heroes League campus, 2800 Ravenna Trail in Hastings. Gates open at 4 p.m., with live music beginning at 5 p.m. General admission tickets are $25, with proceeds supporting the nonprofit organization and its programs for military families.
This year’s event will carry additional significance as the country marks 25 years since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. United Heroes League is presenting the evening as an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives, recognize those who continue to serve and honor military members, veterans, first responders and their families.
“This year marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation and reminded us of the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the American people,” United Heroes League said in announcing the event.
The organization said Freedom Fest is intended to balance remembrance with an evening of community and entertainment. Four bands are scheduled to perform, including Basic and Boring, Fistful of Ladies, Pipewrench and Good for Gary.
Food trucks, games and cold drinks will also be available during the event. Food and beverages are sold separately from admission.
Freedom Fest also serves as a fundraiser for the work United Heroes League does throughout the year. The Hastings-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit works with military families by providing free sports equipment, camps, grants and special experiences designed to help children and families remain active and connected through sports.
United Heroes League has provided sports equipment and other opportunities to thousands of military children, while also hosting camps and events at its Hastings campus. The organization describes its mission simply as a place “where military families and sports unite.”
Organizers are encouraging the community to attend not only for the entertainment, but also as a way to support military families while recognizing the significance of the Sept. 11 anniversary.
“Let’s never forget the lives changed that day and continue to stand united in gratitude and hope,” the organization said.
Free parking will be available for Freedom Fest. Outside food and beverages are not allowed, and ticket sales are final.
