As we see the new year, we each are asked by God to consider what might lay ahead for us or our family. Now, today I’m not talking about spring vacations, resolutions or exercise patterns, I’m actually asking you to think about your eternity. Maybe historically that is seldom a subject for New Years, I get that. But what could be more important as you approach the next year, than to consider what your days will look like down the long road of life and beyond.

I’m going to speak to our congregation at The Journey Church, about “Turning The Pages of Life” and I thought you might consider the same topic. I’ve now turned 66 pages and my book of life and it seems to have fewer pages ahead than behind. But when I became a Christian, at 23 years of age, I learned that my story doesn’t end when I conclude my walk on this earth. I now trust the Creator of the Universe to carry out His promise that eternity now awaits me. This has brought great comfort to my mind and caused me to relax about page 67 and beyond.

John 14:1–2 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me (Jesus). My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

This is God’s promise and not mine. He reminds all of us that we have more wonderful pages ahead of us if we trust His word to be true.

1 John 2:25 And this is what he promised us—eternal life. As most of you know, January 1st is not so much different from December 31st. The days are the same length and the activity is often very steady through the transition. However, when you have God’s assurance, you need not fear the next page turning experience, no matter if it is done on this planet or in heaven. The truth is that this page turning, can be dramatically different for those who have come to trust God. He declares that our future is so much more glorious than our present. Join me as we move through life, close the chapter of yesterday and enter into this new year with hope and possibilities galore.
