LETTER to the Editor Waits has our backs!
I attended the public forum to meet the school board candidates and came away know that the children in our town are in good hands with Kelsey Waits and Scott Gergen on the school board. They are fiscally responsible as evidenced by the solar garden program that the district was paid to install and is saving the school district $100,000 a year. They are also concerned about the welfare of the children. Tashina Miller comments gave me the feeling that she would be a good addition. One reason I went to this meeting was to see what the slogan Kids over politics was all about and I still don’t know although it seemed because children are supposed to wear masks which isn’t a political issue but a health issue. For those who scream “freedom” Your freedom stops when it infringes on the rights of my family to stay healthy. (The experts say wear a mask so wear a mask.) If it is about the teaching about systemic racism or critical race theory, then I think you are also making a mistake. Hopefully, history can teach us what was done wrong before so we don’t make the mistakes again. If our young people know what done wrong in the past, then there is hope that we can fix the issues so it doesn’t happen in the future. This teaching does not take away pride in America, it adds it when we acknowledge the wrongs and then work to correct them.
