Theresa A. Kossan, 82, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away at home on November 20, 2023.

Theresa was born on August 30, 1941, in Hastings MN, to Tony and Eva Bauer. She attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1959. Later she became employed with Hertogs, Fluegal Law Firm as a legal secretary. Her love of typing took her to Northern Technical School of Business where she trained to be a court reporter. She worked with the State of Minnesota as a court reporter for 30-plus years.

Theresa was married to Gary Heesch from 1961 to 1983. On June 19, 1988, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Kossan. Together they enjoyed traveling and boating and riding the ATV on their 14 acres and birdwatching. Theresa enjoyed knitting dishcloths and giving them away. She loved company, and the coffee pot was always on. She was always there for friends and family at a moment’s notice. Theresa devoted her Friday afternoons volunteering at Hastings Family Service. Above all else, Theresa treasured her friends and family – reveling in her time as a mom and grandmother, and being a shining example of love for them.

Theresa was preceded in death by her son Mark Heesch; parents; siblings Rudy Bauer, John Bauer, Diane Evans, Joyce Merritt, Gloria Gallett, and Barbara Robinson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Bauer, Marlyss Bauer, Jeff Merritt, Dan Gallett, Eugene Reinardy, and Pete Gydesen.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth; children Mandy (Steve) Woods and Andrea (Mike) Fox; grandchildren Meghan (Alan) Gillman, Mallory (Hank) Kretman, Angel Heesch, Brooke Heesch, Mike (Oakley) Heesch, Natalie (Alex) Fink, Stephanie (Daniel) VanderHeyden, Riley Woods, Corrin Heesch, Kyle (Kaylee) Heesch; 7 great grandchildren, with 2 on the way; siblings Ray (Joanie) Bauer, Ron (Sue Klein) Bauer, Marvin Bauer, Anna Gydesen, Joanne Reinardy; and many other friends and family.

A memorial service will be held for Theresa at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, with a visitation one hour prior.

The Memorial service will be livestreamed through Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
