Thelma Ann Squires age 84, of Hastings, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 15th 2020 on her 65th wedding anniversary. Thelma was born in Alma, WI on August 7th, 1936. She grew up living on the family farm where she learned her love for nature and the outdoors.

Thelma loved her grandchildren and could be found watching many softball, rugby games and swim meets. Many will remember her sitting on the porch at her home of 23 years at Oak Ridge Manor where she helped with holiday meals, holiday decorating and the walking club which she was often accompanied by her granddaughter Natalee. Thelma was also willing to listen to hours of polka music with whoever would listen along with her, Thelma loved to dress up and could be found always wearing beautiful jewelry with either tie dye or purple clothing. She enjoyed a good pork steaks, peanut buster parfait and V8 and occasionally a can of sugar free red bull. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, her time on earth will be cherished in memories and the beautiful legacy she has left.

Thelma was married to Duane Albert Squires on October 15th 1955. After marriage they found their home in Hastings, MN where they blessed the community with many beautiful flowers and vegetables that still to this day are being enjoyed in the yards of their children Rick and Laura in Hastings, MN.

Thelma is survived by her children Rick (Sandy) Squires and Laura (Dave) Chapin, grandchildren Nick (Brittany) Squires, Danielle Hays, Amanda Squires, Abby Squires, Ashley Squires, Chelsee (Lauren) Chapin and Natalee Chapin and 5 great grand children. Last surviving sibling Chester Rothwell.

Thelma is preceded in death by her mother Margaret Rothwell, father Chester Rothwell, son Gregory Ray Squires, Husband Duane Squires and siblings Philip, Gene, Betty.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to a local animal shelter (Animal Ark) or Wounded Warrior Organization The family of Thelma wishes to thank all those who have been praying for peace in this journey to Thelma’s forever home in Heaven. As well the Allina hospice team who provided care and comfort in the last few weeks and days of her time on earth.
