The Final Spike Tour of Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad’s locomotive 2816 rolled through Hastings on Sunday, May 5, with a crowd of train enthusiasts assembled to view it. The locomotive, known as the Empress, is touring the Canada . The Empress was built in 1930 at a cost of $116,555. It was converted from coal to oil in 1999. The public was allowed to get up close to the Empress at an event in St. Paul’s Union Depot May 3.
