In advance of the Sunday, Dec. 14 Hastings Prescott Arts Council (HPAC) Gala at The Confluence, HPAC’s Arts Heroes are excited to announce the 2025 recipients for the Arts Hero Award are the City of Hastings and the City of Prescott. The support and dedication to the arts from each of the city's governments has been key in the advancement and investment of the arts from HPAC.
The mayor of Hastings, Mary Fasbender, and the mayor of Prescott, Robert Daugherty, will attend the gala and accept the award on behalf of the cities.
The City of Hastings created an Arts Commission in the last few years to assist Hastings in becoming a community in which arts and cultural activities are valued, where citizens of all ages are given opportunities to participate in the arts, and where the local government regards the public buildings and spaces as markers of the history of Hastings.
“I’m so excited to see Arts and Culture becoming more evolved in our community. We are creating spaces and enjoying art in our city. From local artists to new event spaces, it’s all about bringing people of all ages together and that is what makes Hastings such a great place to live. We are fortunate to have so many local musicians and artists that have brought their talents to be performed and displayed throughout Hastings.” Mayor Fasbender of Hastings.
The City of Prescott continues to support the arts in the community through investing in sculptures around the city. Works from Dale Lewis can be found in Freedom Park, at the Waterfront, and the Orange Dragon. The city's interest in maintaining an architecturally interesting aesthetic can be seen through the downtown clock tower and continued renovations along the riverfront and main street with the new light posts.
“I am excited for Prescott to be recognized as the 2025 Arts Hero. For a city of our size to have a performing arts center, event spaces, live music downtown throughout the year, an art gallery, sculptures and historic architecture downtown - we take pride in the variety of arts that Prescott offers and continue to support growth in this area.” Mayor Daugherty of Prescott.
HPAC is grateful for the support from our local governments and looks forward to honoring these new Arts Heroes at the annual Gala on Sunday, Dec. 14th from 5 p.m. - 8p.m.. Additional details about the evening can be found on our website at ww
