The Hastings girl’s tennis team continues to play hard and execute well with a 7-0 win over North St. Paul and head coach Marissa Welch is excited for them. “I have a great group of girls; they play hard and do everything we ask of them and more.”
The team was just about to head home from John Glenn School, but Molly Moran gave a quick recap of her number one doubles match before hopping on the bus. “We won 6-0, 6-0 and the team’s doing really well. We got a lot of winning volleys and winning serves so that was nice.”
The weather was not exactly the warmest Tuesday for the girls, it was right around 60, but it was windy, how did that affect the teams play? Moran explains, “I try to use the wind to my advantage, and I like the cool this. Yeah, it was perfect playing conditions.”
How does Moran think the season is going? “I think our seasons going really well. I’m excited for our next match against Mahtomedi on Thursday, it should be pretty competitive. Yeah, it’ll be a good match.”
Thursday the 23rd, the girls fell to Mahtomedi 5-2 with Autumn Winkler and Brooklyn Keller winning their singles matches for Hastings.
Wednesday, the girls travel to Roseville, Thursday, they host Hill-Murray for their final regular season home game before sections start October 18th.
