The Raiders Girls Swim and Dive team had a busy week last week with two conference meets and an overnight trip for an exhibition meet. First up was Mahtomedi, a very tough opponent where the Raiders lost 95-89. Second was a trip to South St. Paul to take on the Packers where the Raiders won 100-71. Finally, they took a team trip overnight to Chippewa Falls where they won 96-63. Head Coach Katie McAlpin recaps the week:

Sept. 28 – Mahtomedi. Mahtomedi was a tough meet. We lost 89 to 95. It was a battle to the last relay. The swimmers of the meet were Josey Larson and Clara Birken. Josey cut three seconds in the 200 individual medley, taking fourth and broke a 28 in the 50 fly on the medley relay for the first time this season. Clara cut two seconds in the 100 backstroke, taking fourth in the varsity heat. The diver of the meet was Carlie Gintner. Carlie got her best score of the season!

Other highlights:

Ellie Cook cut four seconds in the 100 freestyle in the 400 freestyle relay.

Fiona Olsen cut six seconds in the 100 freestyle in the 400 freestyle relay.

Maddy Ritter cut four seconds in the 100 butterfly.

Oct. 3 - Team Mini Meet. We had a mini meet for practice. It was super fun. The girls got to pick their teams and then write their line ups. They did such a great job that the meet was tied multiple times throughout the meet, and it came down to the last relay. The winning team wrote the workout for a day next week.

Oct. 5 - South St Paul. This was our sixth MEC meet. We won 100 to 71. We had 38 personal best times!

The swimmers of the meet were Izzy Green and Stella Hilgers. Izzy had four best times. She cut three seconds in the 200 Individual Medley, two seconds in the 100 backstroke, and one second in the 100 freestyle. Stella had three best times. She cut two seconds in the 50 butterfly, half of a second in the 50 freestyle and four seconds in the 100 breaststroke. Diver of the meet Greta Larson. Greta did great on a new hard dive and nailed it.

Oct. 6 - Chippewa Falls. For this meet we went on a team trip to Chippewa Falls. We had a meet on Friday night and then had a team outing to Crystal Cave on Saturday. We won our meet 96 to 63. The swimmers of the meet were Emma Dehmlow and Mary Schalk. Emma had three best times. She cut half of a second in the 50 butterfly, one second in the 200 individual medley, and one second in the 100 breaststroke. Emma took second in the IM and first in the 100 Breaststroke. Mary cut one second in the 200 freestyle, 1.5 seconds in the 50 freestyle and three seconds in the 500-freestyle taking third. We did not have diving at this meet.
