Suzanne “Sue” Schrader, age 89 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

She was born on April 19, 1934, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Anna Mae Long. Sue was united in marriage to Fred Schrader on June 18, 1955, in Appleton, Wisconsin, and together they were blessed with four children: Kim, Terri, Tina, and Mark.

Sue and Fred shared a life filled with cherished memories, from winters in Florida to dancing on Friday nights at Weiderholts. An enthusiastic bridge player, a lover of New York Times crossword puzzles, and a talented gardener known for her beautiful flowers, Sue’s creativity and warmth shone through in the delicious pies she lovingly baked for all to enjoy.

Family always held a special place in Sue’s heart, and holidays, especially Christmas, were moments she treasured. The tradition of a real Christmas tree illuminated the joy she felt each year as she watched her family come together, staying overnight, opening presents, and delighting in her famous caramel rolls.

Sue is survived by her children: Kim (Tommy) Burnett, Terri (Rusty) Johnson, Tina (Tim) Mueller, and Mark Schrader; her grandchildren: Katie, Sally, Jason, Heather, Holly, Bryan, Charlie, Jake, Danielle, and Jordan; and her 15 adoring great-grandchildren where she will forever be remembered as “G.G.”

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred, her mother Anna Mae, and her brother Patrick Long. She leaves behind a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her, including many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Sue’s Life was held at 10 a.m Saturday, March 30, 2024, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Hastings. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service, and to a reception immediately following the service, all at church on Saturday, March 30.

Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
