The pandemic did a number on a lot of celebrations for Hastings residents, including Carol Mosbeck of Studio C Salon, a hair salon that opened in 2021. The official ribbon cutting was held off over a year and it finally happened Friday.

Mosbeck worked at Shear Attraction for 20 years until a medical issue forced the salon owners to close, so she opened Studio C in January of 2021. Studio C is located in the lower level of the Haggerty Insurance building at 1206 N. Frontage Rd.

“Clients come here, and I hear them say it’s very cozy, it's very relaxing. They love the decor. They love the whole vibe. It’s very upbeat. They love it and they love coming here,” explained Mosbeck.

Having the right ambiance at your business is extremely important, especially in today’s world where there are multiple options for many of the services people are after. Having decades of experience and clients that have been with you that entire time is certainly a big part of the business, but businesses also need to attract new clients. The addition of a second stylist in September of 2021 helped attract new clients. Kate Nordang joined Studio C and has been a great, full-time addition.

“I would have never thought in all my years that I would own my own salon at the age of 55, but it's the best thing I've ever done. And it has been great. Love it all, it's mine. It's mine and what a way to finish out my career,” added Mosbeck.

Of course, don’t let the word ‘finish’ scare you, she’s not going anywhere anytime soon, she simply meant that she’s found her spot that, when it is time to retire, she will be doing so as a business owner of Studio C.

“We offer haircuts for men and women, waxing, perms, colors, highlighting; you name it, we do it,” said Mosbeck.
