Steven William Kieffer, of Lafayette CO, formerly of Hastings, died peacefully in his sleep, likely from complications of diabetes, on May 28, 2023.
Steve was born in Fort Hood, TX September 29, 1961, graduated from Hastings High School in 1979, and moved to CO in 1983, where he made his home since.
While in CO he became a handyman, and a lawn care maintenance man. He developed a love to fix broken things. Steve was very active in Boulder Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship where he met many people who became his friends as well as clients. In 2013 Steve started the most important journey of his life, celebrating 10 years sobriety in January 2023! He will be remembered by his family, friends, and clients for his kind and generous heart.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Francis (Fritz) and Marjorie Kieffer. He is survived by siblings, Gervase (Laurie) Kieffer, Randy (Linda) Kieffer, Pat (Paul) Kummer, Al (Karen) Kieffer, Elizabeth (Scott) Virchow, Scott (Michelle) Kieffer, Pam (Pat) Werner; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A memorial service was held Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Boulder Valley Unitarian Universal Fellowship in Lafayette, CO, followed by a private family burial in Hastings, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023, at The Vermillion City Hall, 105 Main St., Vermillion, MN 55085 from 6 -8 p.m.
