Spring sports hope to kick into high gear

What looked like an encouraging spring turned back to winter, which put somewhat of a pause on the excitement of spring sports at Hastings High School.
However, this week, things kick into high gear for the Raiders.
Baseball
On Tuesday, April 2, the Raider baseball team scrimmaged at Rochester Mayo to get ready for the field. After a couple days of practice, Hastings travels to play Park Friday at 4:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 10, they play at North St. Paul. They travel to Two Rivers Friday, April 12. Their first home game is set for April 15 at Grossman Field.

Softball
The girls softball team will start play at Tartan Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Raiders play their home-opener Tuesday, April 9 against Mahtomedi and travel to Two Rivers Thursday, April 11.

Boys Golf
The season got underway March 19, so there’s been a lot of practice in. The first meet is set for April 11 at Bunker Hills, followed by invitationals at Hastings Golf Club on April 15 and 18.

Boys Lacrosse
The first match is set for April 16 at Rosemount at 7 p.m., and the Raiders are at Eastview April 18 at 6 p.m. The first home match is April 22 against Park.

Girls Lacrosse
The first two matches are in Rochester, at John Marshall on April 17 and at Rochester Mayo April 19. Both start at 7:15 p.m. The first home match is scheduled for April 26 against Mahtomedi.

Boys tennis
The boys tennis team starts off the season at home against North St. Paul April 9, and they have a busy first week, with matches at Eastview and Simley April 10 and 11 before returning home to challenge Park April 12.

Track and Field
A conference meet in Hastings is planned for April 4 at 4 p.m. The weather back-up date is listed on the schedule as April 5.
The next meet after that is April 9 at Apple Valley.
