At the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) Annual Conference held from Dec. 8-11, Dakota County Commissioner Mike Slavik was elected president of the organization. Founded in 1909, the AMC is a voluntary, non-partisan statewide organization that assists Minnesota counties in providing effective governance. The AMC also provides legislative advocacy, training, research and communication help to counties.
The annual conference, held in Bloomington, drew some 600 attendees, including 14 of the previous AMC presidents as well as Gov. Tim Waltz.
