Skeet team off to a strong start

Posted

The 2024 Spring Trap and Skeet League seasons are now well underway. The team has made it through two practice weeks, a reserve score week and two competition weeks. Hastings has 100 trap shooters (72 male/28 female) under head coach Earl Robinson and we have 28 skeet shooters (24 male/4 female) under head skeet coach Darin Berg.

The 2023 MN Clay Target League has 34,629 student athletes representing 1,625 teams being supported by 9,600 coaches, team staff, and other volunteers. The Hastings trap team is in Class 9A Conference 2 competing for five weeks against Bemidji, New London-Spicer, Nicollet, Northfield, Owatonna and Rosemount. At state we will compete against the 7 Conference 1 teams as well. The skeet team is in Class 3A Conference 1 competing against Cherry, Irondale, New Prague, Prior Lake, Sibley and Wayzata. There is only one conference in Class 3A due to the higher team sizes so they added a 3rd day to the championship and skeet will shoot against the same 6 teams for conference and state competition.

Congratulations to several athletes who have already shot a straight this season. For trap straight 25’s we have Tanner Mattila, Brock Bauer, Ty Dubej (X3), Blaise Lamb, Trent Westberg, Ethan Dellwo and Tanner Lamb and for straight 50’s we have Ty Dubej.
